Although current footpath plates comply with regulations, there is potential for:

  • Hazard to both workers and members of the public if the boards move
  • Removal by vandals
  • Cost of replacing foot plates if they are stolen
  • Securing the boards with nails or screws could end up with expensive cutback, replacement boards or members of the public.
  • The Radlock Footpath System has proved to extend the life of the board by up to three times.
This method reduces plant, labour and material costs all in one system

Transport Research Laboratory (TRL)
Carriageway System Test

The newly developed Carriageway Road Plate System board was internally load tested in June 2012, and exceeded the required loading of 5.75 tonnes by a significant margin. In August 2012 the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) in Wokingham commenced testing of the whole system. This testing was sponsored by Transport for London (TfL) and the Department of Transport as part of their undertaking to find quick wins in reducing congestion on London’s road network.
